Cultural Wing

 

Thunchan Smaraka Samithi has a very active Cultural Wing.The trust ornagises the month-long Thunchan Festival and occassional meetings and discussions on national poets. 'Nagarapradakhina parayana' (circumambulating the city) poems is one of our activities chanting enthusiastically welcomed by the people. We have conducted seminars on the contributions of great luminaries like Valmiki, Thulasidas, Kampar, Pampa, Rabindranath Tagore, Subramania Bharathi and Vallathol, so as to propagate the idea that "Indian literature is one, though written in many languages", thereby promoting national integration. We conduct cultural classes at the Thunchan Vidyapeetham, emphasizing National Integration. In addition to the Samithi organising seminars, study classes, music concerts and performances for promoting Indian Culture and celebrates all nationally important days like Independence day, Republic day, Children's day, Gandhi Jayanthi.

The trust has an educational and a cultural wing. Efforts are being made to help the raising of the intellectual and analytical skills of the young generation and equipping them to take up responsibilities. The Samithi has taken up several social and cultural programs round the year, throughout the region.

 

The Samithi earnestly strives for the realizing Ezhuthachan's dream of disseminating of enlightment, wisdomand ethical values among the people at large. The cultural wing organizes Thunchan Festival round the year and conducts programmes like Poet's Meet, Seminars, Symposiums and performances of traditional art forms of Kerala. On theVijayadasami day the Trust organizes "Vidyarambham" -the initiation of tinytots to the world of letters - for thousands of children ranging between three and five years of age; they are led to the world of 'Letters', 'Music' and 'Arts' under the guidance of reputed preceptors or Gurus.The Samithi aims at planned programmes of the uplifting Malayalam language, the medium of average Keralites expression.In order to achieve this aim, we have started Mathrubhasha Pathanakendrams all over Kerala. We also provide research facilities to students and scholars on art, culture and literature. As a result of the past forty years of our devoted endeavours we have achieved the people's goodwill in abundance which enables us to help the poor through social welfare activities. This is the only institution in memory of Ezhuthachan in the whole of southern part of Kerala, and all lovers of language, literature, culture cooperate in all programs of the Samithi in great enthusiasm.
